Frenchman Hill

DN06ax/DN07

Last update December 27, 2003

General.  High ground up a gravel road just east of Vantage.  The DN06/DN07 line is easily accessible and it has a great path in all directions.  The state DOT has three webcams in the area that you can use to check current conditions at http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/vantage/

Driving Instructions:   From I-90 take Exit 143 -  Silica road. Westbound, go left under the freeway on Silica Road. Eastbound go right on Silica road . Go .3 mile to "U FW" Road. Go right (south). When the arterial turns a sharp left continue up "U F W"  road. Go up the hill past the orchard parallel to the power lines. You go into DN06 at the top of the hill just as it bears left. The best site operating location is about 200 yards past the power lines. If you go further down the road it forks, and there are areas on either of the forks that look higher, but don’t try it - I went down there and found that the road runs into dust that is several inches deep and nearly did not make it out! This is an excellent hit and run location in the NW corner of DN06. The operating location is about 1 ½ miles from I-90. Excellent exposure in all directions.
