5th Wheel Hitch Hoist
I have a shortbed truck, and there can be clearance issues with 5th wheel hitches. I opted for a case of overkill - a 16K slider model. The hitch probably weighs about 200 pounds, and it quickly became apparent that I would either hurt myself or damage something getting it in and out of the bed. I solved this problem for about $100 by installing a Harbor Freight truck bed hoist on a metal pipe in the back yard. I built a lifting harness for the hitch, and it is now an easy job getting it in and out. The hoist has also come in handy several times for lifting heavy objects into the truck.
